Mission

We are a cultural group, whose purpose is to rescue the Costa Rican customs in a dignified, attractive and dynamic way to promote values in search of national identity. Our action is aimed at all kinds of people with an inclusive attitude through the presentation of shows and workshops, which are characterized by their professionalism, seriousness and quality.

 
Vision

Preserving the traditions and, in turn, providing spectacles, through which the national feeling is divulged; We also offer to our customers a great variety of services at a fair price. In this way, the acquisition of the spectacle is facilitated and the Costa Rican traditions are rescued in a healthy and fun way.

1996-1997

Managers and pioneers in the presentation of masquerade in the spectacle "Aserriceñas folk Nights", in Chicharronera Cacique Acserí, until the year 2006. 

Participation in the national carnival of the celebrations of end and beginning of the year, by direct invitation of the Organizing Commission.

 

 

1998-1999

Active participation in the programs: "People Like Us", "from village to town" and "talent hunting" of the Costa Rican Cultural Radio and television System (SINART). 

 

It heads the float of the SINART in the national Carnival of the celebrations of end and beginning of the year, which is awarded.

      

2000-2005

Participation in shows organized by cultural associations in the Teatro Popular Melico Salazar and in the cities of Cartago and Aserrí. 

Participation in the national carnival of the celebrations of end and beginning of the year. You get the third prize in the general category of disguises, with this becomes the first masquerade of Costa Rica awarded, in the history of national celebrations.

 

Together with the artisan Guillermo Martínez (qdDg)-National Prize of Popular Culture-and the College of Carthage, free workshops are provided for the elaboration of traditional masks, in the cantons of San Jose, Cartago and Paraíso.

 

 

2006-2011

Participation in the opening parade and in Parade own at the 10th International Arts Festival, in the city of San Jose. 

Accompanied a delegation of folkloric dance, headed by Mrs. Veronica Sancho. On this occasion, he participates in a collection made up of ten masks to participate in the Mask Festival in Korea. These pieces were purchased by the Suwon Museum, where they are on permanent display to date.

 

Participation in the various editions of the parade of the day of the masquerade in Paraíso de Cartago, organized by the municipality (2005-2009) and the typical Festival Zapoteño, organized by the Civic Association Zapoteña, (2007-2009). 

During the XI Festival of the international arts, workshops are being held for the elaboration of traditional masks, as an important didactic tool for attending members of schools and schools.

In the year 2009 Aserrí Cultural Group, it is constituted as association.

Establishment of cooperation links with the Curubandá Folk Company, in order to spread, in a more effective way, the Costa Rican traditions.

 

Support to this folkloric company, in its participation in the Velko Fest in Bulgaria, where they obtain the First place among 30 nations, using a set of 10 masks of AGruCA.

 

Active participation in the assembly "La Giganta se pensiona", together with the Curubandá Folk Company, at the Melico Salazar Popular Theater and at the Pérez Zeledón Dance Theater, on the occasion of the 2009 National Arts Festival.

 

Incorporation of traditional stilt walkers, theater, street circus, folk music and dance to the AGruCA shows.

 

Winner in the PROARTES Program of the Ministry of Culture and Youth, in the years 2009 and 2010 for the Project "Rescue and Cultural Education" I and II stages, which were carried out in the canton of Aserrí (2010) and in the Zone of the Santos (2011).

 

Finalist in the Ibero-American Education Contest- Mexico 2010, from the Ministries of Culture and Youth, Public Education and the Organization of Ibero-American States for the "Education Project: elaboration of a traditional Costa Rican masquerade".

 

Participation in the opening and closing parades, of the Festival "Summer Activities in the C.E.N.A.C." and in the Cultural Event of the Transfer of Powers, in the La Sabana Metropolitan Park.

 

2012-2015

Active cooperation with the Heritage Research and Conservation Center of the Ministry of Culture and Youth, in relation to the Tradición Viva contest, 2013, whose theme was the Traditional Costa Rican Masquerade.

 

Establishment of cooperation links with the International Circle of

Friends of the Giants (CIAG) in the city of Barcelona, ​​with the

intention of cultural exchanges and projection of the traditional

Costa Rican masquerade.

 

Celebration of the cultural exchange with the CIAG and its associated

group the Group of Gegants of Torroella de Mongrí, of Catalonia,

Spain, where in 2014 25 artists were received and presentations

were made jointly in the cantons of Aserrí (districts Central, La Legua, Return of Jorco), Alajuelita, Desamparados, Escazú, Belén, Grecia and Puntarenas.

 

Participation with a mask in the assembly "A la Luz de los fogones", together with the Curubandá Folk Company, at the Melico Salazar Popular Theater in 2015.

 

Declared as an Aserrí Cultural-Cantonal Interest grouping, by the Municipal Council of the Aserrí canton, through Agreement # 03-274, Second Article, of the Ordinary Session No. 274, held on July 27, 2015.

 

Today, the Aserrí Cultural Group, continues to bring the most autochthonous of our idiosyncrasies, to all that corner, where a national or foreigner, is willing to have healthy fun.

2016

Celebration of the cultural exchange with the CIAG and its associated Group of Gegants of Torroella de

Mongrí, of Catalonia, Spain, where the year 2016 our masquerade and maroon, was presented in the communities of Torroella of Montgrí, L'Estartit, Pals, Girona, Port de la Selva and La 'Escala.

 

 

This tour was declared Cultural Interest by the President of the Republic and the Minister of Culture and Youth of Costa Rica.

2017

Realization of the project "Al sabor del folklore tico" by Francisco Alonso Murillo, winner of the PROARTES Program of the Ministry of Culture and Youth and the Melico Salazar Popular Theater, in the canton of Aserrí.
